500 Smiles for Nigeria

Help Dr. Shin provide dental hygiene kits to children in rural Nigeria who have never had access to basic oral care. Every child deserves a healthy smile.

The Story

A Personal Mission to Bring Healthy Smiles

Dr. Elizabeth "Andie" Shin, founder of BCC Pediatric Dentistry in Bethesda, MD, has a personal connection to a pastor in Nigeria who works closely with widows and children in his community.

She recently learned that many of these children lack access to even the most basic oral hygiene tools. Over 90% of children in rural Nigeria have never seen a dentist in their entire life, and dental care is considered a luxury for families who may only have one meal a day.

In honor of Children's Dental Health Month this February, Dr. Shin is launching a fundraiser in partnership with The Cupbearers Restoration Foundation, a Nigerian non-profit dedicated to reaching less privileged communities. The goal: provide 500 dental kits to children who need them most.
